These three Books are the bridge between the destruction of the First Temple and the construction of the Second Temple after the Babylonian Exile.

The Book of Daniel describes the religious tenacity of the young Jews in exile; Chananya, Mishael, and Azariah in the furnace’ den; the handwriting on the wall, the downfall of Nebuchadnezzar’s empire, and the mysterious dating of the coming of Mashiach.

The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah relate the return to the Land and the building of the new Temple in the face of ferocious opposition and slander by the enemies of the newly arrived Jews.
