Friend, co-worker and soon to be award winning horror novelist Greg Bastieanelli has a new book coming your way.
You may know Greg from his long running stint at the Paperback Bazaar or as a Fosters Daily Democrat staff member.

Gregory Bastianelli is the author of the novels October, Shadow Flicker, Snowball, Loonies, and Jokers Club, and has been hailed by Horrornews.net as the messiah of macabre. He returns this summer with Thorns, inspired by the COVID pandemic and the apocalyptic dread of J.G. Ballard.

As a grotesque contagion spreads across Italy, Dr. Monica Cucinotta is forced into isolation after contracting a mysterious illness that causes painful thorns to erupt from the body. Determined to return to her husband and son, Monica journeys on foot through a collapsing country where fear, faith, and desperation blur the line between compassion and survival. Thorns is a brutal and deeply human nightmare about endurance, transformation, and what remains when the world begins to rot.

A creepy novel which doesnt rely on gratuitous blood and gore but rather world building to tell. And its very effective.
